Photographer in Paracas

Javier Falcón photographs on Peru's desert coast — Paracas, Ica and the dunes that run between the Pacific and the Andes. The coastal desert is one of the country's most cinematic sets: bare horizons, wind-cut sand and a light that turns gold at the day's edges.

His editorial work in the Peruvian desert includes a fashion series photographed in the coastal desert — colour set against empty landscape, in the register that runs through his portfolio. The region reads as anywhere from the Sahara to another planet, three and a half hours by road from Lima.

That proximity makes Paracas one of the most production-friendly locations in Peru: easy access, no altitude, and coastline, desert and the Paracas National Reserve within minutes of each other — with the Ballestas Islands a short boat ride offshore. He is available for editorial and advertising commissions across the region.
